My youngest daughter dreamed of studying at a university in Australia, and my wife also hoped to build a better career there. I knew I had to do something—not just for myself, but for them. With high inflation, cost of living pressure, and over a thousand applicants competing for basic jobs, the future looked bleak. I needed to create a new path forward, and the first step was to find a job in Australia.

But the fear of starting over weighed heavily on me. I had nearly a decade of experience working in New Zealand, including a forklift license and strong technical skills with machines. Still, I lacked local licenses and experience in Australia. I also didn’t have a professional network or local references. I knew how important referrals were—but in this new country, I was starting from zero.

Within just three weeks, I landed a secure, well-paying job that now allows me to bring my family to Australia. My daughter can follow her dream of attending university here, and my wife will be able to find better work opportunities. I’m gaining the local experience I need to grow further in my career.

We’ve already begun planning to apply for Australian citizenship—a dream that now feels within reach. What once felt like a risk has turned into an incredible new beginning.
